We welcome Abosede and Ania who joined our group as new PhD students.
Abosede will study co-phylogeography of bank voles and their helminth parasites across the trans-Carpathian transect. As complicated as it seems, it means that we will check if historical migration patterns affect the genetic diversity of the rodents, and how does this affect their parasites.
Ania will contribute to the metabarcoding project. Full of love for flying mammals, she will study the diversity of microbial and protozoan parasites in bats living close to human settlements. We will try to asses to what extent the bat pathogens pose a threat for humans.
